Blue Raiders to Face First Road Challenge at Abilene Christian

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's basketball program will face its first road test of the 2024-25 season when it travels to Abilene, Texas, to take on Abilene Christian. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Moody Coliseum.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's meeting will mark the third all-time contest between the teams. The all-time series is tied at one game apiece, with Middle Tennessee taking the last results over the Wildcats, 85-69 in the 2022 CBI semifinals in Daytona Beach, Fla.
BLUE RAIDER NOTES
• Torey Alston and Essam Mostafa became the first Blue Raider duo since Reggie Scurry and Karl Gamble in 2018 to record a double-double in the same game.
• Middle Tennessee had five players score 10 or more points against Oglethorpe, the first time since facing Reinhardt in 2024 that this feat had been achieved. The team's 70 field goal attempts were the most since facing Missouri State in 2023 and the 52.9 percent field goal percentage is the best since January 2024.
• Torey Alston had a collegiate debut to remember, with the redshirt freshman recording 11 points and a team-leading 13 rebounds in his first game as a Blue Raider.
• In his Middle Tennessee debut, Essam Mostafa recorded his 40th career double-double, the most of any current player on the roster. The Cairo, Egypt, native put up 14 points and grabbed 10 boards in his first game at the Murphy Center.
• Jestin Porter picked up right where he left off from last season, leading the team in points in the season opener. The Preseason All-CUSA selection demonstrated why he was voted one of the best in the conference, dropping 20 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field.
• In Camryn Weston's first game back from an ACL injury, he led the Blue Raiders in both shooting percentage and assists. He went 5-for-5 from the floor, scoring 12 points, and tallied seven assists.
• The matchup with Oglethorpe marked Justin Bufford's 100th career game as a Blue Raider, tallying 541 points, 281 rebounds, 81 steals and 72 assists. He also boasts 76 blocks, a mark that has earned him eighth place in Blue Raider blocked shot history.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
• Abilene Christian opened up its season with a dominant 107-74 victory on opening day over Howard Payne.
• The Cats set a new program record, pulling down 74 boards on the night, obliterating the previously set record
• Four student-athletes finished the game in double digits including Leonardo Bettiol, who finished the game with 22 points and eight rebounds
• Bradyn Hubbard brought home the first double-double of the season for ACU, finishing the game with 12 points and 14 rebounds in 20 minutes of action off the bench.
• Freshman Dontrez Williams completed his collegiate debut with 16 points and six rebounds on his first night at the Moody Coliseum.
