Blue Raiders took the first set but failed to keep the momentum
KENNESAW, Ga. — Middle Tennessee volleyball fell to Kennesaw State by a score of 3-1 in the first match of the two-match series. The Blue Raiders took the first set of the match but were unable to keep the momentum going, as the Owls took the next three. The scores of the sets were as follows: 26-24, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-21.
The Blue Raiders (11-16, 7-8) recorded a hitting percentage of .219, compared to the Owls (13-13, 10-5) .280, which proved to be too much to overcome. When being outhit by their opponents, MTSU now holds a 2-13 record. The Blue Raiders served the ball well, recording six service aces to just eight errors. Middle Tennessee volleyball also did a good job blocking the ball tonight recording 11 blocks, their highest total since Oct. 25.
Four Blue Raiders recorded four or more blocks on the night with those being Emma Nilson, Adriana Rhoda, Andi Spies and Brooke Springer. The two middle blockers, Nilson and Springer, led the squad with five blocks a piece. Freshman Andi Spies recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 37 assists and 12 digs. Junior Adriana Rhoda led the team with 17 kills and posted two season-highs: eight digs and four blocks. Second on the team in kills was Trae McCutchan with 10, her highest total since Sept. 14.
