Alivia Bronner and Trae McCutchan recognized by College Sport Communicators
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Redshirt sophomore Alivia Bronner and junior Trae McCutchan have been named to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District Team. To make the team, student-athletes must be sophomores or above, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and have participated in at least 90% of matches during the past season.
"Both Trae and Alivia are amazingly deserving of this honor," Head Coach Chuck Crawford stated. "They take the responsibilities of a student-athlete very seriously, putting academics as a priority in their life, not just athletics."
The 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Bronner, an exercise science major, played in all 31 matches and 119 sets for the Blue Raiders this past season, making 18 starts. The Cedar Falls, Iowa native was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 18 after recorded 41 digs across two matches and set a career-high with 24 digs in the second match of the two-match series vs. New Mexico State. The libero finished the season with 278 digs which ranked second on the team and ranked third in service aces with 29.
McCutchan, an exercise science major, played in 85 sets across 28 matches, totaling 103 kills and 22 blocks. The outside hitter finishes her Blue Raider career with 325 kills, 71 digs, 44 blocks and 11 service aces. This past season, McCutchan set single match career-highs in digs and blocks against Lehigh on Sept. 6 with five and four, respectively. The Evansville, Ind. native recorded a season-high 12 kills at Charleston on Sept. 14.
