Softball wraps up NorCal Kickoff

DAVIS, Calif. – Middle Tennessee softball (0-5) finished up the NorCal Kickoff with a one-run loss to San Jose State.
Game 1 – MTSU 2, SJSU 3
San Jose State scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first after two errors by the Blue Raider defense. MTSU threatened to answer in the top of the second after back-to-back singles but both runners were left stranded.
The Spartans added another run in the second with a one-out triple that later came in to score.
Two more runners were left on-base by the Blue Raiders in the third and fourth innings keeping the score at 2-0 in favor of San Jose State. MTSU was finally able to get a run on the board in the fifth inning on a solo homerun by Ashlee Jacoway.
Kamryn Carcich delivered another homerun in the sixth to tie the game at two. It was her first homerun as a Blue Raider.
The Spartans scored the winning run after the leadoff hitter reached and advanced to second on a throwing error and came around to score with a two-out single.
Mary Martinez started in the circle and threw three innings allowing just one earned run on three hits. Carcich took over in the fourth to make her fourth appearance of the season and allowed zero earned runs on two hits.
