Blue Raiders travel to Fort Myers for FGCU Invitational

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Middle Tennessee softball (0-5) will be in Fort Myers, Fla. from Feb. 16-18 to play five games in a tournament hosted by Florida Gulf Coast.
The Blue Raiders will start the competition on Friday against Delaware and Akron. The first game will begin at 10:00 a.m. CT with the second game to follow at 12:30 p.m. CT. Saturday, MTSU will face Delaware and FGCU. Game one starts at 12:30 p.m. CT and the second is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT. Wrapping up this weekend's games for the Blue Raiders is a single game on Sunday against Akron with first pitch slated for 9:00 a.m. CT.

Series History
The Blue Raiders have only met Akron once in 2018 in which they won 5-0. This will be the first ever meeting between MTSU and Delaware. The Blue Raiders also lead the series with FGCU 4-0 with the two most recent matchups being last year.
Scouting the Competition
Delaware is off to a 2-3 start to the 2024 season after playing in Gardner Webb's tournament a week ago. In 2023 Delaware finished with a 29-20 overall record while being 18-5 in conference play. Akron will open their season with MTSU on Friday at 12:30 p.m. CT. The Zips finished last season with a 28-23 record and 16-13 record in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). FGCU out of the Atlantic Sun Conference started off 1-5 after hosting the FGCU Kickoff Classic a week ago.
