MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball (12-16) split its midweek doubleheader with South Dakota (13-12) on Tuesday.
Game 1 – MTSU 3, USD 8

Both teams would be held scoreless through the third and fourth innings. Lexi Medlock picked up her second hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth.
The Coyotes fourth hit of the game was the biggest yet, a two-run homerun to center field that put them in front 3-1.
Shelby Sargent delivered her second hit of the game to start off a two-run fifth inning. Julia Garcia would single to score Sargent and Amaya Harris and tie the game at three apiece.
All tied after seven innings, the Coyotes would score four in the eighth inning to take game one 8-5.
The Blue Raiders made a late push scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Coyote lead was too much to overcome in extra innings.
