Blue Raiders drop game two of the series on Saturday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—Middle Tennessee State (12-18, 1-4) dropped game two with Louisiana Tech (19-4, 5-0) 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.
MTSU had two runners in scoring position in the first inning looking to take an early lead but came up empty to keep it locked at zero. LA Tech would strike a run across in the third on a solo shot to right field.
Shelby Echols picked up her second hit of the game and 32nd of the season in the bottom of the third to try and match the Bulldogs at one.
The Blue Raiders were able to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single from Riley Gilmore.
LA Tech started off the seventh inning with three straight singles to load the bases. The Bulldogs would score four to increase the lead 5-1 headed into the bottom half.
MTSU would add a pair on a two-run homerun by Ava Tepe to trim the Bulldogs lead 5-3 with one out in the seventh. The Blue Raiders would be held scoreless after Tepe tied the team lead in homeruns at four.
The Blue Raiders saw a good outing from Claire Woods in her third start of the season. Woods totaled eight strikeouts to tie her career high. In 7.0 inning of work, she allowed 11 hits on five runs.
