Blue Raiders open conference play at UTEP

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball will start Conference USA play on Friday, March 8-10 in El Paso, Texas with a three-game series at UTEP.
Game one is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT on Friday with game two on Saturday set for 2:00 p.m. CT. First pitch for the final game on Sunday will be at 12:00 p.m. CT.
All games this weekend will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Blue Raiders did not face the Miners in the 2023 season. Overall, UTEP leads the series 12-7 with the last matchup in 2022 where the Miners took two out of three games in El Paso.
Scouting the Competition
UTEP's Bri Garcia earned Conference USA Player of the Week on February 19 to end a dry spell dating back to 2019 since the last Miner earned the weekly honor.
The Miners are off to the best start in program history early in the 2024 campaign. They are among the top of the league with a 14-5 record. In 12 home games this season UTEP holds a 10-2 record.
Offensively, UTEP ranks second in batting average in the league at .322. They are led by Ajia Richard who is hitting .406 on the year with 26 hits.
In the circle the Miners hold a 3.08 team ERA for third best in CUSA. Taja Felder and Faith Aragon do most of the work with over 90 combined innings pitched.
