Four errors haunt Blue Raiders in rain delayed contest
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—Coming off a two-plus hour rain delay, Middle Tennessee (7-7) was unable to overcome a 12-run output by St. Bonaventure (4-8) on Saturday in a 12-2 loss to even up the series.
Blue Raider backstop Briggs Rutter didn't waste any time getting his team on the board, collecting his first RBI of the day through the left side of the St. Bonaventure infield to make it 1-0. Jackson Galloway gave MTSU a 2-0 lead to head into the second inning after pushing a beautiful sacrifice bunt down the third base line to plate Luke Vinson.
The Bonnies were able to keep the Blue Raiders off the scoreboard the rest of the way while exploding for 12 unanswered runs following MTSU's early lead. Eight of those runs were unearned for the MTSU pitching staff, as the Blue Raiders committed five errors on Saturday. Bonnies' starter Michael Salina earned his second win of the season, going for six innings and picking up six strikeouts.
Middle Tennessee was paced offensively by Briggs Rutter, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double. Eston Snider also went 2-for-3 with a stolen base at the bottom of the Blue Raider lineup.
