Blue Raiders drop game two on Saturday at UTEP

EL PASO, Texas – Middle Tennessee softball (11-14) dropped its conference matchup with UTEP (15-6) on Saturday to even the series heading into Sunday.
The Blue Raiders got the scoring started with an RBI double by Ansley Blevins after Amaya Harris and Julia Garcia both singled in the top of the first. UTEP would quickly recapture the lead in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run single.
After two scoreless innings, the Miners added to the lead with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth. MTSU was held scoreless for five straight innings to keep the score at 3-1 in favor of UTEP headed into the seventh inning.
Garcia singled with two outs for her second hit on Saturday to give MTSU a chance late in the game. The Miners would close out the game leaving her stranded for the 3-1 victory.
Mary Martinez started her sixth game of the season and allowed three runs on five hits in 4.0 innings of work. Kamryn Carcich came into the game for her 19th appearance of the season. She went 2.0 innings without allowing a run and just one hit.
