MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Build Blue, Middle Tennessee State University's ambitious fundraising campaign to transform its athletics facilities, has raised $20.5 million, surpassing its initial $15 million goal and nearing its new target of $25 million.
Launched in November 2021, Build Blue will ultimately surpass $100 million in construction costs. With the $20.5 million in private fundraising secured thus far, the total generated for this campaign has surpassed $93 million. Fundraising for these critical projects is ongoing.
The next phase of Build Blue has begun, and the campaign is now focused on raising funds for the renovation of the historic Murphy Center, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. A feasibility study will help the university determine the scope of the renovations.
"Simply put, Build Blue is a game changer for MTSU Athletics," said MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee. "We are incredibly grateful to the generous donors who have answered the call and helped us make this bold vision a reality."

Build Blue has already helped the university achieve two recent milestones:
"We are thrilled with the progress of the campaign," said Chris Massaro, MTSU director of athletics. "The new Outdoor Tennis Complex is already turning heads, and the SAPC will be a transformative space for all our student-athletes.
"We are excited to see the positive impact these facilities will have on our athletics programs and the Murfreesboro community for years to come."
Naming opportunities within the Outdoor Tennis Complex, SAPC, and Murphy Center are still available. Individuals wishing to join the Blue Raider Athletic Association and impact the student-athlete experience through the Build Blue Campaign can contact the BRAA offices for additional information at (615) 898-2210, BuildBlueNow.com, or BRAA@mtsu.edu.
"Build Blue will further elevate the experience for Blue Raider student-athletes and fans," said Deputy Athletic Director Lee De Leon. "Continued support from philanthropic donors is essential for completing this initiative."

Build Blue has already helped the university achieve two recent milestones:
- Completion of the Outdoor Tennis Complex: The state-of-the-art $8 million complex, which opened Feb. 1, features six courts, new locker rooms and offices, and spectator seating that provides a world-class environment for Blue Raider Tennis.
- Construction of the Student-Athlete Performance Center: Construction is underway on the highly anticipated Student-Athlete Performance Center (SAPC). This $66 million, 85,000 square foot facility will boast cutting-edge training areas, recovery spaces, and a nutrition station benefiting all 17 Blue Raider teams. The complex will also serve as the new headquarters for Blue Raider Football and will be finished during the summer of 2025.
