Gabe Jennings singled up the middle to lift the Blue Raiders to a 16-15 win
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - In an offensive showcase, Middle Tennessee defeated in-state foe, Austin Peay 16-15 in walk-off fashion, at Reese Smith Jr. Field on Tuesday evening.
The Blue Raiders (13-22, 4-8 CUSA) fell behind early after the Governors (21-15, 9-6 A-SUN) plated five runs in the second inning, however, MTSU answered with nine runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Austin Peay proceeded to score four runs in the third to tie the game.
Trace Phillips and Jackson Galloway each tallied a home run along with Eston Snider's three-RBI night to help boost the Raiders up to a 15-6 lead going into the fifth inning.
The Govs scored nine unanswered runs to send the game into extra innings.
After a scoreless 10th frame, Gabe Jennings was able to hit a single off the Governors' closer, Titan Kennedy-Hayes, to bring in Eston Snider, the winning run.
"I love it when guys think they can just throw it passed everyone," said Jennings. "I'm one of those guys that if it's straight, I'm gonna hit it."
This marked the Blue Raider's second walk-off of the season – Bowling Green on February 17th.
