Men's Golf climbs up leaderboard on Day 1 in Texarkana
Luke Perkins tied his career low with a round of 69 to open the Conference USA Championship on Monday as Middle Tennessee men's golf finished the first round of stroke play in second place. The Blue Raiders combined for a score of 287 (-1) to finish the day five strokes ahead of fifth place, positioning itself to make the cut for match play.
"Good start for the team today!" Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "Incredible round from Luke Perkins. I'm happy for him. We are doing a bunch of things really well. Need to clean up the par 5's and keep going."
Perkins enters the second round tied for third place individually, one stroke off the lead. He picked up birdies on two of his first three holes and each of his last two, finishing the round with five in all.
