MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee Men's Golf's Owen Stamper has been selected to the 2024 NCAA West Lafayette Regional, the NCAA announced on Wednesday.
Stamper, the Blue Raiders' lowest scoring golfer this season with an 18-hole stroke average of 71.2, is one of 10 individual golfers selected to the NCAA Regional hosted by Purdue. The regional takes place from May 13-15 at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
"I'm very happy for Owen Stamper qualifying for the NCAA regional," head coach Mark McEntire said. "It'll be great to see the MTSU logo at the regional championships and postseason. Owen had a fantastic year, and I hope that it does not stop in Indiana and continues onto the NCAA championship."
The West Lafayette Regional will feature 13 teams in addition to its 10 individual golfers. The lowest five teams in the regional after 54 holes, as well as the lowest scoring individual golfer not on one of those five teams, will advance to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, CA from May 24-29.
Stamper will compete as an individual alongside nine other solo golfers: Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon, Michigan's Hunter Thomson, Wisconsin's Cameron Huss, Toledo's Barend Botha, Illinois State's Valentin Peugnet & Alex McCulla, Cincinnati's Ty Gingerich, Western Kentucky's Luke Fuller and Rider's Ben Ortwein.
The 13 teams competing in West Lafayette include No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 2 Arizona, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 New Mexico, No. 5 Purdue, No. 6 San Diego State, No. 7 Mississippi State, No. 8 Indiana, No. 9 College of Charleston, No. 10 Stetson, No. 11 Colorado State, No. 12 Southern Illinois and No. 13 Tennessee Tech.
