MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The 2024 Middle Tennessee Soccer schedule has been released, and this year's slate will include 11 home games and seven on the road.
"I'm very excited about our 2024 schedule especially with our slate of 11 home games," MTSU Head Coach Aston Rhoden said. "The mixture of unfamiliar opponents as well as a strong CUSA schedule will challenge us in many ways. However, I'm confident our team will be ready to face and overcome these challenges. We can't wait to feel the energy of Blue Raider Nation in the stands as we hit the pitch, ready to give it our all."
The Blue Raiders will have their annual Blue vs. White game to kick off the season on Saturday, August 3 at 5 p.m. A week later, MTSU will travel to Southern Indiana for an exhibition as the team's final tune-up ahead of regular season play.
MTSU will play its first game of the regular season at home against Alcorn State on August 16 and will host Belmont later that weekend on August 18. The first road trip of 2024 will bring the Blue Raiders to Lafayette, La. to face the Ragin' Cajuns on August 22.
Middle Tennessee will then return home for three straight games at Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium, facing off against Tennessee Tech (August 25), North Alabama (August 29) and Bellarmine (September 1).
The Blue Raiders then travel to Huntsville, Ala. to line up against Alabama A&M on September 5, followed by a trip up I-24 to Nashville to face off vs. Vanderbilt on Sunday, September 8 at 6 p.m. MTSU will host South Alabama on September 12 to wrap up its non-conference slate.
The Blue Raiders' first Conference USA game will be against FIU in Murfreesboro on September 19. MTSU then will head west for a two-game swing at UTEP (September 26) and New Mexico State (September 29).
Middle Tennessee will come back home for three straight CUSA games vs. Jacksonville State (October 3), Kennesaw State (October 6), and Western Kentucky (October 13). This will be Kennesaw State's first year in Conference USA and just the second time the Owls will have faced the Blue Raiders all-time (MTSU won 2-1 on September 15, 2017 in the program's first-ever matchup).
MTSU will then travel to Sam Houston (October 20) and then to the defending Conference USA champions Liberty Flames (October 27) before wrapping up their 2024 season at home against Louisiana Tech on November 1 at 7 p.m.
The Conference USA Championship will be held in Miami, Fla. on FIU's campus on November 4-10.
The Blue Raiders have three seniors on the roster with Faith Adje, Sascha Nielsen, and Lauren Spaanstra. MTSU also added 10 signees from six states and two international countries. The Blue Raiders return 2023 stats leaders in the following categories: goals (Manon Lebargy, 8), assists (Spaanstra, 5), points (Lebargy, 19), and game winning goals (Lebargy and Idun Kvaale, 2).
Five of the eight Blue Raiders who participated in all 18 games last season are returning: Lebargy, Kvaale, Nielsen, Spaanstra, and Taijah Fraser.
Head Coach Aston Rhoden returns for his 23rd season at Middle Tennessee. He first led the Blue Raiders in the 2002 season.
