MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Women's Tennis Head Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall has announced the addition of Micaela Ode Mitre to her coaching staff for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
A native of Lima, Peru, Mitre joins the Blue Raiders' staff after featuring last season as a student assistant for CUSA rival Liberty Flames. As a member of Head Coach Jeff Maren's staff, Mitre helped lead the Flames to an 18-7 overall record, as well as a perfect 5-0 record in conference play, and a CUSA Tournament Championship berth for the 2023-24 campaign.
"I am excited to have Micaela join our program as our new assistant coach," Bailey-Duvall said regarding her latest coaching addition. "She brings a great deal of experience and positive energy, stemming from her experiences as a player and a student-assistant at Liberty. As we look to continue to make an impact on the realigned CUSA, I know Micaela will be important in helping us reach our goals."
Prior to her tenure as an assistant coach, Mitre spent three seasons with the Flames as an active player. During her senior year, she finished with a combined 48 career doubles wins across the fall and spring campaigns from 2019-2022. In route to recording a team-high 14 doubles victories in just her first spring collegiate season in 2020, she earned ASUN Player of the Week honors on Feb. 5 following a pair of wins in a 4-3 triumph over Navy.
During her time in Lynchburg, Mitre was also honored with a host of academic awards, including being named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and to the ASUN Academic Honor Roll for three consecutive years and an ASUN All-Academic team selection in 2022.
