Middle Tennessee to send four individuals to Golfweek Invitational

When: Monday, September 16 – Tuesday, September 17
Where: Coldstream Country Club (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Format: 54 holes (36 holes Monday; 18 holes Tuesday)
Course Info: Par 71; 7,279 yards
The Field: The xx-team field at the 2024 Bearcat Invitational includes Augusta, BYU, UCF, Chattanooga, Florida Gulf Coast, Furman, Illinois State, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, UNC Greensboro. Sam Houston, Southern Miss and host institution Cincinnati.
The Lineup: JJ Zimmer, Markus Varjun, Sheldon McKnight, Thad Whitfield and Oliver Baker – this marks Baker and Whitfield's collegiate debut.
Tee Times: The Blue Raiders will tee off at 8 a.m. CT both days via shotgun format.
Last Year: Owen Stamper tied for fifth as Middle Tennessee men's golf placed seventh as a team at Cincinnati's Bearcat Invitational in 2023. Stamper finished with a 54-hole score of 4-under-par 209 after shooting an even-par 71 in the final round.
MTSU shot 11-over-par 295 to finish the tournament at seven-over-par 859. After briefly entering a three-way tie for first place, the Blue Raiders fell to seventh, due in part to 19 combined birdies on the back nine.
Golfweek Invitational Notes
When: Sunday, September 15 – Tuesday, September 17
Where: Delaware Country Club (Muncie, Indiana)
Format: 54 holes (18 holes each day)
Course Info: Par 70; 6438 yards
The Lineup: Joesph Agee, Charlie Bell, Carter Maneth and Owen Queener – this marks Agee's and Whitfield's collegiate debut.
Coach's Comments: Mark McEntire
"It was a quick turn this week," said Head Coach Mark McEntire. "I really like this golf course in Cincinnati and the field is a fantastic, including a lot of teams that are on the regional bubble. This week will be a great test to see where we are as a team and I'm excited to get it going."
"I'm also excited to send another group of guys to the Golfweek Individual Invitational in Indiana this weekend," said McEntire. "We have a young team and I'm glad they are all going get some more experience. I am looking for Carter to rebound and get some confidence for the rest of the fall.
