Andi Spies Wins Second Straight CUSA Freshman of the Week

Spies wins second straight Freshman of the Week for her performances at CofC Invitational
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Setter Andi Spies was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the second week in a row, announced by the league office on Monday, September 16. Spies is the second Blue Raider to take home multiple CUSA Freshman of the Week's in one season. MTSU joined Conference USA in 2013.
This past weekend at the College of Charleston Invitational, Andi Spies recorded her 300th assist of the season in just her ninth career match. She tallied 137 assists in the three matches the Blue Raiders took part in, averaging an outstanding 45.67 assists per match.
In the Blue Raiders victory against Robert Morris, Spies recorded her second 50+ assist performance of the season, with this match being her career-high of 51. To go along with her setting performance, Spies recorded 13 kills in the three matches. Defensively, the Fort Atkinson, Wis. native also had great performances, totaling 27 digs and 9 blocks.

The Blue Raiders will be traveling to Charlottesville this week to take on Virginia in two matches. The matches will take place at 5:30 p.m. CT and will be played on Sept. 17 and 18. The matches will be shown on ACC Network and can be streamed on the ESPN App.
