Libero Laure Jansen Wins CUSA Defensive Player of the Week

Jansen takes home award after record-setting week
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Senior Laure Jansen was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday, September 30. Jansen is the first Blue Raider to take home the award since Marley Banton (2021) and the fourth in program-history (MTSU joined Conference USA in 2013).
On Sept. 26 at Sam Houston, libero Laure Jansen had a record-setting performance, recording 39 digs and 9.75 digs/set, setting all-time program records. The 39 digs tied a program record and the 9.75 digs/set set a new program record. Across the Blue Raider's three matches, Jansen recorded an outstanding 74 digs across 10 sets, good for 7.40 digs/set. In the sweep victory over Alabama A&M, the Valburg, Netherlands native recorded an impressive 19 digs across three sets, good for 6.33 digs/set. Jansen is currently on pace to set a new MTSU digs/set record in a single-season, during the 25-point era, with 4.64 digs/set.
The senior leads Conference USA in total digs and ranks 14th in the nation with 255. She is also second in the conference in service aces with 22, one behind the leader, Charli Crowson from Liberty, who has 23 aces.
