Blue Raiders Finish Full Weekend of Play at Home Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team concluded a competitive weekend at the MTSU Invitational, achieving significant success in both singles and doubles matches against opponents such as Lipscomb, Miami (OH), Southeast Missouri, and Tennessee State.
The Blue Raiders demonstrated strong depth throughout their lineup, with notable performances from junior Sadbaroy Kholdarova, who secured straight-set victories over Lipscomb's Tytarkenko (6-1, 6-4) and SEMO's Demunck (6-2, 6-3), in addition to a solid win against Miami's Komar (6-2, 6-3).
In doubles competition, MTSU established its momentum early with several decisive victories. Freshman Sthefany Lima and senior Rutuja Chaphalkar continued their successful partnership, achieving wins against Miami's Chavez/Risner (6-2) and TSU's Nikolic/Arietta Castillo (6-1). Another duo, sophomore Sara Conde and senior Karen Yibirin, also remained undefeated, including a 6-4 victory over TSU's Cooksey/Murdasanu.
Additional noteworthy singles performances included Lima's comeback victory against Miami's Oliveira (4-6, 6-2, 10-4) and a three-set win over SEMO's Somme (6-4, 3-6, 10-3). Conde recorded a commanding 6-3, 6-0 win against Miami's Voss, while both Yibirin and Chaphalkar secured straight-set victories against their SEMO opponents.
Junior Zenn Lim concluded the weekend on a positive note, overcoming Lipscomb's Hamdan 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 10-5. Additionally, freshman Zora Koenig achieved a determined comeback win against Lipscomb's Cherniaievea (3-6, 7-5, 10-4).
