Middle Tennessee Advances to Conference USA Tournament with Shutout Win Over Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. — Middle Tennessee women's soccer (10-5-3, 5-2-1 CUSA) finished its regular season on a high note Saturday night, achieving a 1-0 victory over Kennesaw State (2-11-4, 1-6-1 CUSA) at Fifth Third Stadium, thus securing a place in the Conference USA Tournament.
Senior forward Emma Pettersen scored the winning goal in the 71st minute, marking her ninth goal of the season, with an assist from Taijah Fraser to break the tie.
Freshman goalkeeper Ella Sellers played a key role in the Blue Raiders' defense, making four saves during the match. She notably stopped a penalty kick from Kennesaw State in the 17th minute to keep the score level.
The match was tightly contested, and both teams had a player sent off after a double red card in the 60th minute. Despite this, Middle Tennessee kept its composure, controlling possession and securing the victory.

“Really proud of the team’s performance tonight. It was another tough game, but we showed great resilience to earn the win. Now we’ll rest tomorrow and start preparing for the CUSA Tournament next weekend.”
By the Numbers:
The Blue Raiders outshot the Owls 16-6, with a 3-4 advantage in shots on goal, and maintained a 51% possession rate.
Sellers recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
