Volleyball set for midweek match with TSU

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Volleyball welcomes Tennessee State to the Alumni Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 7 for a midweek matchup. First serve against the Tigers will be at 6:00 p.m. CT.
Middle Tennessee is looking to bounce back after a tough weekend at Jax State, the Blue Raiders dropping both contests to the Gamecocks.
The Blue Raiders continue to excel defensively, Middle Tennessee 3rd in digs per set and 6th in blocks per set in Conference USA. Three Blue Raiders are top ten in the conference in defensive statistics; Michaela Dlouhá is 4th in blocks, Caroline Macander is 8th in digs and Isil Yilmaz is 9th in digs.
Offensively, Raegan Durbin continues to lead the Blue Raiders in kills and kills per set, also taking Middle Tennessee's top spot in aces and aces per set after the weekend against Jax State. The Blue Raiders as a team average 11.25 kills per set and 1.54 aces per set, both marks are higher than the visiting Tigers.
Scouting the Tennessee State Tigers
TSU comes to Murfreesboro at 1-16 under Donika Sutton in her 9th season. The Tigers are 11th in the OVC, sporting an 0-5 record in conference play.
Tennessee State averages 12.1 digs per set and 1.5 blocks per set, each of those figures lower than Middle Tennessee. The Tigers run a balanced offense, distributed by Sagaia Reilly with 351 assists on the season. Aliyah Harris leads the TSU offense with 107 kills, Maygan Miller-Garcia behind her with 96 kills. Three Tigers have accumulated over 100 digs on the season, Erini Bitsaktsi leading the Tennessee State defense with 125.
