COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday night, falling 63–54 to Tennessee Tech (3-0) at the Eblen Center.
The Blue Raiders jumped out to an early 21–13 lead after the first quarter behind hot shooting from freshman guard Yu Han Lin, who finished with a team-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting and added two steals.
Despite holding a 31–26 advantage at halftime, Middle Tennessee struggled to maintain momentum as the Golden Eagles outscored the Blue Raiders 22–11 in the third quarter to take control.
Freshman Macie Phifer added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, while senior guard Alayna Contreras tallied 12 points. Freshman guard Blair Baugus pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds for the second straight game and chipped in six points.
