Middle Tennessee drops home contest with No. 13 Lady Vols

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee Women's Basketball (2-3) fell in a clash with No. 13 ranked Tennessee (4-1) in the Murphy Center on Thursday night, 41-85.
Savannah Davis led the Blue Raiders with 18 points, including two three-pointers, while Blair Baugus added seven rebounds. Kirston Verhulst scored 10 points off the bench, knocking down a pair of threes to give MTSU brief momentum in the first half.
MTSU faced tough full court pressure, committing turnovers that resulted in 36 Tennessee points. The Blue Raiders posted their strongest offensive stretch in the third quarter with 14 points, but were ultimately unable to cut into a deficit that grew to as many as 44.
Middle Tennessee dropped to 2–3 on the season and will continue non-conference play next week.
