Blue Raiders fall to Huskies and Dolphins

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Middle Tennessee softball fell to UConn and Jacksonville on the first day of the Jacksonville/North Florida Tournament. The UConn score was 6-5 and the Jacksonville score was 9-0 and was finished in five innings.
In the UConn game, Anyce Harvey came to the plate four times and reached base on all four at bats (three walks and a single) to bring her season on-base percentage to an impressive .455. As a team, the Blue Raiders recorded nine walks. The last time Middle Tennessee softball recorded more walks than that was back in 2017 vs. Alcorn State where the team drew 10 walks. Jesyne Espinal got the start and Leila Ammon followed behind her as they combined to give up just two walks.
In the Jacksonville game, MTSU recorded two hits before the game was called after five innings. The two Blue Raiders who recorded the hits were freshmen Jana Want and Macie Harter. Harter also drew a walk bringing her on-base percentage to .462 on the season. Dimitra Milonopoulos, Sabria Ritto and Emmaline Whitt made their first collegiate appearances in the game.
