MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee baseball came out on offense with a bang, but couldn't survive comeback efforts from the Bowling Green Falcons as MTSU dropped Game 3, 12-9, in 11 innings.

The Blue Raiders (1-2) opened by scoring a run in each of the first three innings. In the bottom of the first, Eston Snider, Trace Phillips, and Tyler Minnick all tallied singles to put a run on the board, while Brett Vondohlen hit his first homer of the year in the second inning. In the third, Snider ripped a double over the center fielder's head, eventually scoring from second on a sacrifice fly by Keaton Ray to make it 3-0.

On the other side of the ball, RHP Drew Horn made his Blue Raider debut and did not disappoint. He finished with six complete innings, allowing only two hits and one run while striking out six hitters.

The Blue Raider offense exploded in the sixth inning, putting up five runs with five hits. Ray led off the inning with a single, followed by consecutive doubles by Minnick and Nathan Brewer. Hayden Miller and Matt Wolfe added singles to give the Blue Raiders an 8-1 lead at the end of the sixth.

The Falcons (2-1) went on to score eight unanswered runs to take the lead in the top of the ninth. However, Vondohlen wouldn't let the Blue Raiders go away easily, hitting his second home run of the night to tie the game and send it to extra innings.

MTSU had a chance to win with the bases loaded and two outs but couldn't convert. Bowling Green took control in the 11th inning, scoring three runs to put the game out of reach for Middle Tennessee, which fell 12-9.

Snider had a standout offensive performance, going 5-for-7 at the plate. Wolfe also found his rhythm, going 3-for-4 with two walks to cap a great first series as a Blue Raider.
