Blue Raiders fall to Ospreys in Jacksonville

North Florida pitching staff was too much to overcome for MTSU
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Middle Tennessee softball was defeated by North Florida by a score of 4-1 on Sunday, February 16.
The Blue Raiders (3-7, 0-0) struggled to get the offense going vs. the Osprey's pitching staff, recording two hits on the day. Freshman Jana Want reached base in all three of her plate appearances, recording one single and two walks to raise her season on-base percentage to .629, to go along with her .500 batting average.
In the seventh inning, Avery Wynne checked into the game as a pinch hitter and recorded a walk. Wynne has stepped up to the plate twice this season, recording a walk and a single, giving her very impressive stats in the small sample size. With the Blue Raiders down to their last out, Zoe Milonopoulos recorded an RBI-double to put MTSU on the board.
Leila Ammon gave the Blue Raiders 5.0 innings while allowing three earned runs and striking out three. Mary Martinez entered the game in the sixth inning and allowed one walk on the day.
By the Numbers
The Blue Raiders will be traveling to Macon, Ga. for the Mercer Tournament next weekend, Feb. 21-22. The teams attending the tournament are Jacksonville, Mercer and Alabama State.
