Varjun named CUSA Golfer of the Week

DALLAS – Following a strong performance at the Loyola Intercollegiate redshirt junior Markus Varjun was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Varjun, a native of Tallinn, Estonia, paced the Blue Raiders with a second-place finish - his best career finish - in the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. He fired rounds of 4-under-par 68, 3-under-par 69 and a career-low 5-under-par 67 to finish at 12-under-par 204 after 54-holes.
As a team, Middle Tennessee finished tied for second with Boise State and host institution Loyola (Md.) at 19-under-par 845. The Blue Raiders' final round of 12-under-par 276 marked the best team round of the tournament.

"Markus played amazing this week," said Head Coach Mark McEntire. "He is playing really well right now and I am excited to see him play the rest of the semester. Markus has the capability to do some special things."
