A pair of Blue Raiders record top-15 finishes at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate

STATESBORO, Ga. – A pair of Blue Raiders sit in the top 15 at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate at the Georgia Southern University Golf Course. Freshman Thad Whitfield led Middle Tennessee with a top-10 finish at 2-under par 214.
Liberty's Michael Lugiano claimed the individual low medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 9-under-par 207.
The Blue Raiders will return to action for their team event on Feb. 16-18 (Sunday - Tuesday) at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
The Lineup
• Freshman Thad Whitfield led the Blue Raiders with a pair of 2-under par 214 to finish tied for sixth. He carded a final round 4-over par 76.
• Redshirt junior Markus Varjun fired a final round 4-over par 76 to finish tied for 14th at 2-over par 218.
• Freshman Olver Baker finished in 55th place at 19-over par 235, while redshirt sophomore Jake Hopper finished tied for 59th at 23-over par in his first collegiate event.
Coach's Comments: Mark McEntire
"It was a solid week for Thad and Markus," said Head Coach Mark McEntire. "We were able to knock some rust off and I was glad to get Ollie and Jake some tournament reps. Now, we will finish up qualifying and get ready to start the spring in Arizona in two weeks."
