Trace Phillips takes home Conference USA Pitcher of the Week

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Sophomore right-handed pitcher Trace Phillips has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for his outstanding performance on Friday, Feb. 21.
The two-way standout continued his strong start to the season, throwing six shutout innings, allowing just five hits and one walk. He also tied his career high with nine strikeouts in his second win of the season.
The flamethrowing right-hander has thrown 12 shutout innings this season, posting a 17:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The preseason All-Conference USA selection has allowed fewer than one base runner per inning and surrendered just nine hits this year.
This is Phillips' first Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honor, and he looks to build on this achievement as he continues his stellar season.
