Blue Raiders ink midfielder Luiza Junior Dos Santos

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee soccer head coach Aston Rhoden announced the signing of transfer Luiza Junior Dos Santos Monday afternoon. The senior joins the Blue Raiders from Roberts Wesleyan University, where she was an essential member of the Redhawks attacking midfield.
"Luiza is a strong and creative attacking player," saich Coach Rhoden. "She can unlock defenses through her 1v1 attacking skills, vision and passing range. Luiza's experience will be an asset to our midfield and will allow us to be more flexible in our attacking schemes."
As a Redhawk, Junior Dos Santos appeared in 15 contests, earning a starting role in 14. She knocked home one goal during her junior season and averaged 61 minutes of playing time, aiding in keeping three clean sheets throughout the season.
The Vitória, Brazil, native previously attended Illinois Central College prior to Roberts. In her freshman season, she started 15 games, seeing minutes in 16 and tallied two goals and assists, helping lead the team to become Region XIV champions. Her sophomore season saw a higher level of success, becoming team captain, as well as voted ICC player of the week. Her production jumped up tremendously, knocking home five goals and assisting on 12. Her achievements earned her All-Region First Team honors.
In Vitória, she attended Colegio Salesiano Jardim Camburi for high school.
Off the field, Junior Dos Santos earned NJCAA All-Academic First Team her freshman year and Second Team her sophomore season, as well as a nod to the President's List. She earned her Associate's degree in arts with high honors from Illinois Central College and is currently studying for her Bachelor's in psychology.
"I chose MTSU because I think it is the best place to play at the highest level, obtain a quality education and grow in the sport," said Junior Dos Santos. "I feel like MTSU is the opportunity I've been dreaming of since I was younger and so getting to experience that and develop my best self in soccer sounded like the right decision. I am looking forward to getting to have a great season, full of accomplishments and great memories."
