Blue Raiders Drop Friday Night Home Contest 4-3 to Indiana

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee (3-6) was unable to hold off Indiana (6-0) late in singles play, falling 4-3 to the Hoosiers in the second straight match that featured four of six singles matches going to a third set.
No. 70 Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak picked up a 6-3 win over No. 8 Jip Van Assendelft and Michael Andre on Court 1, giving Middle Tennessee an early advantage in doubles play. Indiana won 6-2 on Court 3 and clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win on Court 2.
Kacper Szymkowiak moved up to play on Court 2 for the first time in his career and remained undefeated, improving to 7-0 in singles action with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Indiana's Van Assendelft. Al-Amin came back after losing the first set to win for the second match in a row, defeating his opponent 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 on Court 1 to give Middle Tennessee a 2-1 lead.
Indiana tied the match with a win on Court 6 before Horak picked up a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory, putting the Blue Raiders back on top 3-2. The Hoosiers then tied the match on Court 3 and clinched the win on Court 4.

Middle Tennessee hosts Arkansas and Eastern Kentucky in a Sunday doubleheader at the Adams Tennis Complex. The match against Arkansas is scheduled for noon, with the Eastern Kentucky match set for 5 p.m.
