Middle Tennessee Track and Field See Success at CUSA Indoor Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Middle Tennessee track and field wrapped up the Conference USA Indoor Championships with multiple athletes earning medals and a new program record set.
The Blue Raiders collected 12 medals across various track events during the weekend.
5000-Meter Run
Two Blue Raiders medaled in the 5000-meter event on both the men's and women's sides. Allan Kiplagat placed first with a personal-best time of 14:17.70. Faith Nyathi finished third in the women's event with a time of 16:51.70.
Distance Medley Relay
The women's distance medley relay team of Eleanor Towe, Courtney Green, Privilege Chikara, and Odilia Jepchumba set a new program record with a time of 11:26.65, breaking the previous record by four seconds and securing a second-place finish.
In the men's DMR, Juan Lucas de la Fúente, Jackson Burns, Wail Bourahli, and Mackdonald Songok also took second place, adding another medal for the Blue Raiders.
Men's One Mile
Two Blue Raiders claimed medals in the men's mile. Brian Kiptoo won gold with a personal-best time of 4:04.08. Allan Kiplagat finished second, also setting a personal best with a time of 4:04.28.
Mackdonald Songok recorded a personal best of 4:05.78, finishing fourth overall.
800-Meter Run
Mackdonald Songok placed first in the men's 800 meters, while Privillege Chikara finished second in the women's 800 meters.
Eleanor Towe set a personal best in the event with a time of 2:12.06.
200-Meter Dash
John Sherman was the only Blue Raider to medal in the 200-meter dash, taking second place and setting a personal best of 20.82, improving his previous best by one second.
3000-Meter Run
Kiptoo added another medal with a second-place finish in the 3000 meters. Carmelo Cannizzaro set a personal best with a time of 8:13.97, finishing fifth overall.
4x400 Relay
The team of Jamaree Jenkins, Jackson Burns, John Sherman, and Wail Bourahli recorded a season-best time of 3:16.49.
Long Jump
Viktoria Rusnakova finished third in the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 5 inches. Laura Odivwri set a personal best with a jump of 19 feet, 4.75 inches.
Triple Jump
Joel Iheakolam placed third in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 50 feet, 1½ inches. Roland McGhee Jr. also recorded a personal best with a jump of 44 feet, 9.5 inches.
On the women's side, Xarya Udoumana set a personal best with a jump of 37 feet, 3.75 inches.
High Jump
Freshman Devin Walker set a personal best in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 3.5 inches, improving his previous best by more than a foot.

Kiptoo added another medal with a second-place finish in the 3000 meters. Carmelo Cannizzaro set a personal best with a time of 8:13.97, finishing fifth overall.

Viktoria Rusnakova finished third in the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 5 inches. Laura Odivwri set a personal best with a jump of 19 feet, 4.75 inches.
Triple Jump
Joel Iheakolam placed third in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 50 feet, 1½ inches. Roland McGhee Jr. also recorded a personal best with a jump of 44 feet, 9.5 inches.
On the women's side, Xarya Udoumana set a personal best with a jump of 37 feet, 3.75 inches.

Freshman Devin Walker set a personal best in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 3.5 inches, improving his previous best by more than a foot.
