Blue Raiders Start Home Swing with a 4-0 Win Over St. Thomas
3/26/2025 9:36:00 PM | Women's Tennis
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. –Middle Tennessee's (12-6, 1-1 CUSA) women's tennis squad is starting to gain traction just at the right time. With more Conference USA opponents looming on the schedule, the Blue Raiders started a three-match home swing that will continue throughout the rest of the week with a 4-0 win over the St. Thomas Tommies (6-9, 1-2 SUMMIT). The win marks four wins in MTSU's last five matches.
Playing with two doubles pairings we've yet to see this year, the Blue Raiders took the doubles point by sweeping on all courts. Eloise Swarbrick and Sara Conde, as well as Rutuja Chaphalkar and Lena Peyer, both won in their first time playing together this season. Middle Tennessee's top duo of Ilaria Sposetti and Cassidy Mataia won their 12th doubles match of the season on court three.
Conde earned the second point of the match for Middle Tennessee by notching a singles win on court three 6-2, 6-1. The back end of the lineup brought it home for the Blue Raiders with Zenn Lim winning 6-1, 6-3 on court six and Cassidy Mataia clinching on court four 6-2, 7-6 (6) to earn her ninth singles win of the season.
Thoughts From Coach Tayo
"We got a solid win today. There were a few changes in the line-up and I am happy we were able to compete well both in singles and doubles. We are looking forward to our next two matches this weekend against conference teams. I think we are playing well and getting close to our performing at our peak."
