Blue Raiders finish 12th at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Blue Raiders carded a final round of 8-over-par 288 to finish 12th at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finley Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. Junior Luke Perkins led Middle Tennessee in the individual standings with a 5-over-par 145 to finish tied for 22nd.
Host institution and ninth-ranked North Carolina earned the team title with a 54-hole total of 1-under-par 839, while Elon finished second at even-par 840 and Kennesaw State finished third at 1-over-par 841. The Blue Raiders finished in 12th place at 34-over-par 874.
North Carolina's David Ford claimed individual medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 7-under-par 203, while Elon's Jack Wieler finished second at 3-under-par 207 and North Carlina's Maxwell Ford and Kennesaw State's Kyle Bachkosky finished third at 2-under-par 208. Perkins led Middle Tennessee in the individual standings with a 5-over-par 145 to finish tied for 22nd.
The Blue Raiders will return to action when they compete in the Conference USA Championship at Texarkana Country Club on April 21-24 (Monday-Thursday) in Texarkana, Arkansas.
The Lineup
• Junior Luke Perkins paced the Blue Raiders with a 36-hole total of 5-over-par 145 to finish tied for 22nd. He joined the lineup in the second round of the Tar Heel Intercollegiate in place of redshirt junior Carter Maneth.
• Senior JJ Zimmer finished tied for 29th at 6-over-par 216. He carded a final round of even-par 70.
• Redshirt junior Markus Varjun finished tied for 37th at 7-over-par 217. He posted a final round of 3-over-par 73.
• Sophomore Jake Hopper and freshman Oliver Baker each finished tied 63rd at 15-over-par 225. Hopper carded s final round of 4-over-par 74, while Baker fired a 9-over-par 79.
