Addy Edgmon leads the way with two home runs
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — If you're a fan of high-scoring games, then Blue Raider Softball Field was the place to be Thursday night. In a 9–6 slugfest, the Blue Raiders edged out the Jax State Gamecocks in a thriller.
The Blue Raiders (22–22, 10–9 CUSA) and Gamecocks (28–18, 10–9 CUSA) traded runs back and forth until MTSU pulled away late. On the first at-bat of the game, Jax State smashed a home run to center field to take an early lead. But the lead was short-lived. In the second inning, the Blue Raider offense exploded for four runs. Ava Tepe tied the game with an RBI double over the center fielder's head, and then Addy Edgmon ripped a three-run homer over the right field wall to make it a 4–1 ballgame.
Jax State responded with a run in the following inning on a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to two, but Julia Garcia answered in the bottom half with a three-run home run of her own to extend MTSU's lead to 7–2.
The Gamecocks strung together some solid at-bats over the next few innings, closing the gap to 7–6 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
That's when Edgmon delivered again, launching a towering two-run shot that cleared the fence with ease. It was the second multi-home run game of her career.
When asked about her performance, Edgmon said: "It felt great to be able to help the team tonight. My coaches believe in me, and my teammates put me in great spots."
