BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Middle Tennessee dropped the final game of its weekend series on the road, falling 9-1 to a nationally ranked WKU on Saturday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.
The Blue Raiders (18-22, 4-11 CUSA) managed to get on the board in the fifth inning when Matt Wolfe led off with a single and later came around to score on an RBI single from Cooper Clapp.
On the mound, Chandler Alderman started and battled through 4.1 innings, with six hits while striking out four. The bullpen saw appearances from Ethan Imbimbo, Cole Torbett, and Jonny Stevens, who combined for the final 3.2 innings of work.
Offensively, Middle Tennessee collected five hits, including singles from Brett Vondohlen, Tyler Minnick, Wolfe, Brett Rogers, and Clapp. However, the team struggled to string together consistent offense and was held scoreless in eight of the nine innings.
Defensively, the Blue Raiders were tagged with four errors, which proved costly in several key innings.
