Varjun named CUSA Golfer of the Week

DALLAS – Following a strong performance at the Mason Rudolph Championship redshirt junior Markus Varjun was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Varjun, a native of Tallinn, Estonia, paced the Blue Raiders with a tied-for 18th-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee. He fired rounds of 1-under-par 70, 2-under-par 69 and 1-under-par 70 to finish at 4-under-par 209 after 54-holes.
He was one of just 13 players to post all three rounds under par on the weekend. This marked his sixth top-20 finish of the season.

"Markus gave us another fantastic tournament against a really strong field," said Head Coach Mark McEntire. "He is playing really well right now and has the capability to do some special things the rest of this season."

The Blue Raiders will return to action when they compete in their regular-season finale at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finley Golf Club on April 12-13 (Saturday-Sunday) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
