Strong Showing from the Blue Raiders During Day Two of the CUSA Outdoor Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Day two of the Conference USA Outdoor Championships came to a close with the Blue Raiders setting multiple personal bests and sweeping the podium in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Middle Tennessee secured its only podium of the day in the steeplechase, with Allan Kiplagat earning gold, Carmelo Cannizzaro taking silver, and Brian Kiptoo finishing third. Kiptoo also set a new personal best with a time of 8:57.18.
The first personal best of the day came from Hailee Gorham in the women's 800 meters. The Tennessee native posted a time of 2:27.69.
In the men's 800 meters, freshman Carlos Gonzalez broke the two-minute barrier with a personal best of 1:59.73, showing strong potential early in his collegiate career.
The women's 200 meters saw two more Blue Raiders achieve personal bests. Laila Rudolph clocked 24.76 seconds, shaving more than a second off her previous time. Courtney Green also set a personal best, running 23.62 to qualify for Sunday's 200-meter final and positioning herself as a contender for the C-USA title.
Middle Tennessee looks to finish the championships strong. The final day of the competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium.
