Middle Tennessee Wraps Up the 2025 CUSA Outdoor Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The final day of the Conference USA Outdoor Championships concluded with multiple Blue Raiders reaching the podium and setting personal bests across several events.
Picking up where he left off Saturday night, Carmelo Cannizzaro earned another podium finish with a first-place performance in the 1,500-meter run. He crossed the finish line alongside teammates Allan Kiplagat and Mackdonald Songok, who took second and third, respectively.
Tamia Waters continued her strong showing in the women's 100-meter hurdles. After setting a personal best on the first day of the championships, Waters secured third place in Sunday's final.
Sophomore John Sherman added to his medal collection in the men's 100-meter. He placed third with a personal best time of 10.17 seconds in a nail-biting finish.
The 800 meters saw success on both the men's and women's sides. Songok finished second and Wail Bourahli placed third, clocking a personal best of 1:48.58.
In the women's 800, Privilege Chikara took third, marking her fourth podium finish of the 2025 outdoor season.
The Blue Raiders also had a strong showing in the 5,000-meter, with two athletes reaching the podium. Faith Nyathi took home gold for MTSU—her third podium and second gold in the event this season. Odilia Jepchumba finished third with a time of 16:55.45.
Personal Bests – Day 3
In the women's 100-meter, Laila Rudolph set a personal best with a time of 11.80 seconds. Rudolph had a strong weekend, also setting a new personal best in the 200-meter on Friday.
Chikara also set a personal best in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:23.70.
Courtney Green impressed again in the women's 200-meter. After setting a personal best in Friday's prelims, the freshman improved that mark on Sunday with a time of 23.78.
To close out the meet, the Blue Raiders finished third overall in the men's team standings and fifth in the women's standings, tallying 97 points for the men and 84 for the women.

The Blue Raiders will now prepare for the NCAA Regionals, set to be held in Jacksonville, Florida, May 28–31.
