Carmelo Cannizzaro Named CUSA Male Track Performer of the Meet

DALLAS — Conference USA announced its Track and Field Performers of the Meet following the outdoor championships held in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, from May 16–18.
Carmelo Cannizzaro was named the Male Track Performer of the Meet for his performances in the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter steeplechase. He won the 1,500 and helped secure a podium sweep in the event. In the steeplechase, Cannizzaro finished second and again contributed to a sweep for the Blue Raiders.
In total, Cannizzaro scored 18 points for Middle Tennessee and helped the team secure third place in the men's team standings.
The Italian will now set his sights on the NCAA East First Round in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He is scheduled to compete Saturday, May 31, at 4:40 p.m.
