ROME, Ga. – Middle Tennessee's NIT run came to an end with a 4-2 loss to North Alabama.
The Blue Raiders looked poised to take the match early, securing the doubles point. Alessia Truden and Rutuja Chaphalker started strong, defeating Anoek Pruijmbbom and Ada Karabacak 6-2 on Court two. North Alabama responded on Court one, with Stanislava Bobrovnikova and Eeva Ristola beating Lena Peyer and Eloise Swarbrick 6-3.
It came down to Court three for the doubles point, where Ilaria Sposetti and Sara Conde clinched it for the Raiders with a 6-3 win over Mathilde Delaney and Senem Ocal, giving MTSU a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
In singles, the Lions clawed their way back, starting with a win by retirement after Truden was forced to leave due to injury, tying the match at 1-1. Zenn Lim picked up the only singles win for the Blue Raiders, dominating her match 6-0, 6-1 over Pruijmbbom to give MTSU a 2-1 lead.
The Lions, however, proved too strong down the stretch, taking victories on Courts three, four, and five to seal the 4-2 win.
