MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team has been honored with earning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the eighth consecutive year.
The award is given to programs that maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 or better on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). This year Middle Tennessee volleyball was one of 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball programs that were honored with the award.
"Middle Tennessee volleyball has a high standard for academics, and it is important that we are excelling in the classroom as much as we are on the court," said MTSU Head Coach Alexa Keckler. "I am proud of the work that these athletes put in to balance their athletic careers and their academic goals!"
This past season, two Blue Raiders were named CSC Academic All-District. In addition, 11 student-athletics made the CUSA Commissioner Honor Roll (3.0 GPA or higher) and four made the CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal list (3.7 GPA or higher).
