MTSU Track & Field adds Evans Kiptoo to coaching staff

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee track & field has announced the addition of Evans Kiptoo to the Blue Raider coaching staff, the program revealed Wednesday.
Kiptoo joins the Blue Raiders after serving as head cross country coach at Akron in 2024, where he guided the second-and third-place finishers in the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Prior to Akron, Kiptoo was the head cross country coach at North Alabama, leading both the men's and women's teams to multiple honors, including championships at the UNA Invitational. Under his direction, several Lions earned ASUN Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors, while both squads maintained team GPAs above 3.0.
Kiptoo began his coaching career in 2012 as a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky, helping the Colonels qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
A former standout student-athlete, Kiptoo competed collegiately from 2007–11 at Lindenwood and Eastern Kentucky. He earned numerous accolades, including All-American, All-Region, All-OVC and OVC Champion honors.
He earned his bachelor's degree in sport management from Eastern Kentucky in 2011 and completed his master's in sports administration there in 2012.
Kiptoo and his wife, Jackline, have two children, Zoey and Liam.
