MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Joshua Bone, a Tennessee native with years of collegiate playing and coaching experience, has joined the Middle Tennessee men's basketball staff as the Coordinator of Player Development, head coach Nick McDevitt announced Tuesday.
"I'm truly honored to join the MTSU basketball program and work alongside Coach McDevitt and the rest of this dedicated staff," said Bone. "This opportunity means a great deal to me, and I'm excited to help our players grow both on and off the court. I'm beyond grateful and look forward to contributing to the continued success of this program."
Most recently, Bone worked at nearby Tennessee State University, first joining the staff as a video coordinator before being promoted to Director of Basketball Operations, then to Assistant Coach, a position he had been in for three years prior to leaving. In his three years as an assistant, he helped guide the Tigers to two consecutive 18-win seasons, which had only been done by two other coaches in TSU history.
"We are happy to welcome Josh and his family to the Middle Tennessee basketball community," McDevitt said. "He brings experience and a competitive spirit to the position that will greatly benefit our staff and student-athletes.
Bone began his collegiate playing career at Southern Illinois University, helping the program win a Missouri Valley Conference championship and leading the Salukis in three-point shooting during his sophomore campaign. He then transferred to Tennessee and was part of two NCAA tournament teams where he established himself as one of the nation's top defenders as a senior.
He founded BFG Elite, an AAU organization based in Nashville and led the program to win numerous tournaments around the country while guiding players to advance to the next level in play.
