Blue Raiders Draw 2-2 with Tennessee Tech

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee women's soccer (4-3-2) played to a 2-2 draw against Tennessee Tech (0-5-4) on Thursday night at Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
Tennessee Tech opened the scoring in the 26th minute. The Blue Raiders answered after halftime when forward Emma Pettersen netted the equalizer in the 56th minute off assists from Hannah Delaney and Taijah Fraser.
The Golden Eagles regained the lead in the 69th minute, but MTSU responded quickly. Just two minutes later, junior defender Sadie Sterbenz scored her first goal of the season, with Delaney earning her second assist of the night.
Head coach Aston Rhoden on the team's comeback:
"At halftime, we told the team they needed to get back to our identity, because we certainly were not playing anywhere like how we normally play. They just needed to find their way back into being able to possess the ball and move it around."
Emma Pettersen on her goal:
"My focus was to just try and push the line, stay as high as possible, and let my midfield take the space in front of me and create opportunities. That was my main focus."
By the numbers:
Delaney now has four assists this season, setting a new career high.
Pettersen scored her third goal of the season.
MTSU recorded five shots on goal, while TTU finished with three.
