Middle Tennessee Earns Doubleheader Sweep at Adams Tennis Complex

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — With back-to-back 6-1 victories over UAB and Eastern Kentucky to complete a doubleheader sweep, Middle Tennessee maintained its unbeaten start to the season.
Middle Tennessee's 5–0 start is its first since 2001, while the program record for best start is 12–0, set in 2002.
Middle Tennessee 6, UAB 1
Middle Tennessee won all six of their singles matches in straight sets after losing the doubles match to UAB.
In court one singles, Ondrej Horak defeated Juan Pablo Valdez Guzon 6-1, 6-4, setting the tone. In court two, senior Karim Al-Amin won 6-3, 6-1. The Blue Raiders swiftly won thanks to straight-set wins from senior Jonasz Dziopak, sophomore Eric Crivei, freshman Antoine Mayoral, and senior Freddy Murray.
Middle Tennessee 6, Eastern Kentucky 1
With freshman Rich LaLance and Mayoral winning in position three and Dziopak and Crivei winning in position two, the Blue Raiders maintained their momentum throughout their afternoon game against Eastern Kentucky.
After that, Middle Tennessee won five of the six singles matches. Horak's 6-1, 6-2 victory at court one, junior Birtan Duran's 6-1, 7-5, and freshmen Santiago Lora and Freddy Murray's shutout or nearly shutout victories were the highlights. The Blue Raiders won their second game of the day 6-1, dropping just one singles match.
