Springfield, Mo. – Middle Tennessee Women's Soccer was unable to find a winner in the second half of Sunday's contest at Missouri State, settling for a 1-1 draw and one point towards the conference standings.
The tie extends the Blue Raiders' record to 8-3-4 (1-1-2 CUSA) and keeps them in fifth in Conference USA, while the Bears sit at 3-7-3 (0-2-2 CUSA) and ninth in CUSA after four games of conference action.
''We showed great resilience in coming back from being a goal down,'' MTSU head coach Aston Rhoden said. ''Despite getting a point, I'm disappointed we did not secure all three. We must now recover for a tough road trip to Delaware.''
Missouri State began the contest on the front foot, rattling off four shots in the first 20 minutes as the home side looked to open the scoring.
Despite early pressure from the Bears, it was Alli Craig for the Blue and White that came nearest in the 22nd minute, after Hailey Phillips crossed the ball into the six-yard box. The crashing No. 9 could only get a slight touch on the ball, sending it just wide of the near post as the score stayed even.
In the 39th minute, Missouri State's Ariya Barton received a through ball down the left flank. She placed a cross into the center of the box that Marleigh Allen met with a one-time finish, scoring her second goal of the season to put the host side ahead.
Just four minutes later, the Blue Raiders earned a free kick in the opposing half, with a hopeful Hannah Murphy floating her cross into the box, searching for an MTSU target. Her pinpoint ball found fellow captain Megan Carroll in between two defenders to equalize the match just before halftime.

The goal marked the first this season in which both captains were involved and tallied the second for Carroll in as many games, a first in her career. The score further added to both captains' career-best seasons to date, as well as tallying Murphy's third goal involvement in four contests.
Murphy's second assist of the season improves her points total to 12, moving her into seventh place outright in the conference standings.
The second half was tense, with each team only managing three shots apiece. In the final ten minutes, both teams had chances to score, with Ania Denham's header glancing just wide, while Ella Sellers made two saves in the final five minutes to secure the all-important conference point.
