Middle Tennessee Rolls Past Utah at Battle in the ’Boro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee showcased an impressive display of tennis on Friday afternoon, decisively sweeping Utah 4-0 at the Outdoor Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders quickly claimed the doubles point and followed up with three straight-set victories in singles to secure the victory.
From the outset, Middle Tennessee asserted their dominance in doubles play. Eric Crivei and Jonasz Dziopak earned a convincing 6-2 win over Charles Frey and Emmett Potter at the No. 2 position. The nationally ranked duo of Karim Al-Amin and Ondrej Horak clinched the doubles point with a thrilling 7-6 (7-2) victory against Balthazar Huss and Dante Teramo at No. 1. Meanwhile, the No. 3 doubles match featuring Houston Jacques and Antoine Mayoral remained unfinished at 6-6 (0-2).
With the 1-0 lead in hand, the Blue Raiders maintained their momentum in singles.
Dziopak was quick to finish, overpowering Lorenzo Esquici 6-1, 6-1 at court three, extending the score to MTSU 2, UTAH 0.
Freshman Santiago Lora increased the lead with a solid 6-4, 6-2 victory over AJ Deem at court six. Freddy Murray clinched the team win at No. 5, overcoming Balthazar Huss with a score of 7-5, 6-4. After a challenging first set where Murray fought back from a 3-0 deficit to tie 5-5, he seized control to secure the victory for the Blue Raiders.
Several matches remained unfinished after the clinch. At court one, Ondrej Horak was leading Dante Teramo 6-2, 3-6, 4-2. Meanwhile, Karim Al-Amin was engaged in a close contest at court two, trailing 4-6, 6-5 against Emmett Potter. Birtan Duran, despite dropping the first set in a tiebreak, had rallied to lead 4-3 in the second set against Simeon Terziev at No. 4.
