TROY, Ala. – Middle Tennessee Softball (1-3) defeated Southern (0-2) in game one and dropped game two to Chattanooga (2-2) during day two of the Trojan Classic. The Blue Raiders took down the Jaguars 11-1 in five innings and fell 4-0 to the Mocs.

The day started off strong with nine hits and 11 runs against Southern. Halle Klaiber got the start and threw a complete five inning game, moving to 1-0 on the season. Adaeze Nwogbo and Mady Pint combined for four extra base hits for the Blue Raiders, including the first home run of the season off of Pint's bat. Nwogbo, Pint, Onnika Spencer and Jana Want each had multi-hit games, and Pint led the team with four RBIs.

The bats never came alive for Middle Tennessee in game two, Chattanooga finishing the game as a no-hitter. The Blue Raiders walked seven times but never touched home plate, leaving eight stranded at the end of the game. Mary Martinez got the start in game two, throwing five innings before Braelyn Hall entered the game in relief. Hall threw two innings of scoreless relief, striking out four of the nine batters she faced.
